The cashew market has moved into notably stronger territory through mid-2026. Farmgate prices in West Africa climbed to roughly $790–$940 per metric tonne, on the back of strong buyer interest, while raw nut pricing had earlier ranged between $1,000 and $1,500 per metric tonne during the 2024 shortfall driven by adverse weather in producing regions like Côte d’Ivoire.

What’s driving the recovery

The global market has shown clear structural improvement. Surplus inventories across the supply chain have leveled out, clearing the heavy oversupply pressure that disrupted the market throughout 2025 and early 2026. Demand growth across major import hubs — Europe, China, and the Middle East — has been steady, while competing tree nuts (almonds rebounding, pistachio crops tightening) are providing additional tailwinds for cashew demand.

Africa’s position

Africa remains central to global supply. Côte d’Ivoire’s Zanzan growing zone has faced climate pressure — falling rainfall and rising heat days — which has periodically cut yields and tightened raw-nut availability, underscoring the importance of diversified sourcing and reliable supplier relationships across multiple African origins rather than a single region.

With inventory pressure easing and demand strengthening across key import markets, sentiment across the cashew trade has turned more constructive than at any point in the past two years.
